Services must be rendered

The Spokesman-Review

In regard to the issue of whether snow days should be made up: I am failing to understand the question.

My taxes are used to fund an allotted amount of time for my child to be in school. If my child does not receive this amount of time, in my book it is either theft based on services not rendered or those tax dollars should be refunded to me.

Further, and more importantly, what lesson does this teach our children? When the weather turns nasty, the work just disappears? In the real world, with the exception of the Postal Service and primary educators, the work must go on or be “made up” later. If these days are not made up, I will surely remember that fact when the next school levy arises and I am asked to give yet more. I would encourage others to do the same.
