Why we’re excited
Bev Moss, of Coeur d’Alene, explains in an e-mail Tuesday morning why she and husband Steve are excited about being in Washington.
Both my husband and I have worked hard over the past two years trying to get Democrats elected in Kootenai County which continues to be strongly Republican.
This year, after the caucus in February that was wildly successful, we really thought that the Democrats would be able to make some inroads in our county and state because of the enthusiasm of the Obama supporters that came out that night…
We so much wanted to see some of our values and issues represented by our locally elected leadership. Alas, it was not to be, although we did return George Sayler to the Idaho State Legislature from District #4 and saw Walt Minnick defeat Bill Sali for the 1 st Congressional Seat. Electing Obama, a Democrat, as our president gives us hope that maybe someday Democrats will be able to have more equal representation in Kootenai County and in Idaho. It was thrilling to see the rest of the country rally behind the ideals and issues that are important to us and we want to be with all those like-minded people as we welcome in a new era for the country.
