Everybody wins with bond, levy

The Spokesman-Review

The citizens of Spokane are being asked on March 10 to approve a $288 million school construction bond, as well as an operations levy that provides about 14 percent of the school district operating funding. These are not new taxes, but maintenance of the current bond and levy structures that have been in place.

Reading the list of major projects, the schools impacted (all of them), and both the long- and short-term value these projects bring makes this a no-brainer. Over $300 million pumped into the local economy in projects. Local architects, engineers, designers, contractors and subcontractors, and the suppliers and services they buy from. Spokane citizens win, keeping tax dollars here; the community wins by having buildings that are designed to last for future generations. Most importantly, the kids of today and tomorrow win, with comfortable, safe schools to learn and grow in. Vote yes bond, yes levy!
