Bond, levy are bargains

The Spokesman-Review

What can you get that helps you meet the needs of the future at the prices of the past? Award-winning schools that prepare our children well for the challenges of today and tomorrow. Please join me to continue our tradition of generations of support for Spokane children: Vote yes for the educational levy and school construction and building improvement bond that will be on the March 10 ballot.

Both the bond and levy are renewals of past measures, at or below the rates of three years ago.

Spokane Public Schools has a well-thought-out 25-year facility and technology improvement plan. This bond is a renewal at the same rate we’re already paying, to fund the second phase of the plan first approved by voters in 2003. Your yes vote renovates four old elementary schools, modernizes Ferris High School, and benefits every neighborhood school with projects and technology for students.

The levy renewal – at a rate below what we pay today – is essential for maintaining educational programs and classroom activities not funded by the state.

Learn more at www.yesforspokaneschools.org, and join us in voting yes twice by March 10. Your vote helps us all build and support tomorrow’s schools at yesterday’s rates.
