2 Boys Hurt Badly In ATV Crash

Two boys suffered serious injuries earlier today when their ATV crashed into a telephone pole on private property near Athol. Malachi Mort, 10, the driver of the vehicle suffered a compound leg fracture — and was taken to Kootenai Medical Center for treatment, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department. His friend, Cohen (no last name given), sustained head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The accident occurred at 11:10 this morning at 14900 Twete Road, between Athol and Bayview. Reportedly, Mort lost control of the machine on the edge of the driveway and struck a power pole.
