KR: Kemp’s Run Spells GOP Trouble

J ana Kemp is one of those politicians the Idaho GOP hardliners call a RINO - a “Republican In Name Only.” Nowadays, Kemp doesn’t even call herself a Republican. The former one-term legislator is running for governor as an independent. In the inevitable Twitterization of Idaho elections, the Boisean is spreading the word on a page that goes by the handle “TheresAChoice.” I think Kemp’s choice gets at some larger political trends. When a moderate such as Kemp decides she is better off as an independent, that says something about the direction and the orthodoxy of the Idaho Republican Party/ Kevin Richert , Idaho Statesman.
