Palin attack vicious betrayal
Kathleen Parker’s firebomb thrown at Sarah Palin (July 9) is only the latest sarcastic remark in a series of snide op-eds re: Republicans, Bush, etc. she has written.
While I am not a fan of Ms. Palin, I do find it remarkable the viciousness not only of this piece, but of virtually all of Parker’s columns.
In this latest instance, Ms. Parker admits Palin and family have taken more heat than other families (no kidding) but “it isn’t difficult to avoid media attention. All one has to do is go to Alaska and stay put.”
How crass! Why should Palin and family have to stay in Alaska … why shouldn’t they be able to attend a baseball game in New York, for example?
Parker’s snotty remarks reaffirm that the media does nothing to encourage women, especially Republican women, or people of limited means to enter the political arena. Where is the angst for a woman whose person and family have been maligned by the press? As a woman, I am ashamed of Kathleen Parker and appalled at The Spokesman-Review for printing this column.
