Salsa in Cali is totally chevere

On the Thursday before we left Cali, our teachers took us out to a salsa club. Like any good musical group, the one that played the Blues Brothers started late. At least by our standards.

The live music replaced the canned tunes at exactly 11:26 p.m. By then, I’d downed, uh, three Club Colombias – one of the country’s top beer brands – hardly enough to get me up and dancing.

I dance only to “My Sharona.”

But the music sounded great. And those who did dance, including my teachers Oscar and Harry, looked good.
