All should share care’s cost
Here we go. Health care for everybody seems to have a problem: it might add to the deficit.
I’m curious: why wasn’t this an issue when Bush or Reagan was president? Both those guys rang up record-breaking deficits, but nobody seemed worried about it then. What, are they gonna put everybody in the country in debtor’s prison? Make man, woman and child bust rocks in Louisiana for a while?
Now Obama is left holding the bag, trying to do something for all of us. Is it my imagination, or does it make sense to let everybody share a burden so everybody can reap a benefit? If you’re lucky enough to be healthy, fortunate you. If awful tragedy overtakes you, then the rest of us can do the heavy lifting so you won’t lose everything.
And before you have a conniption fit about socialism, just remember, I just bought a book for you to check out from the public library, I paid to teach your kid in the public schools, even though I don’t have children, and I financed that guy who came and put out that fire in your garage. All you naysayers out there may have forgotten that.
