Keep city, replace council
Some time back I signed the petition to disincorporate the city of Spokane Valley. Now I regret it for the following reasons.
We don’t know exactly what would happen; most likely it would cost us a lot more money. If we went back to county control it would really cost us as our commissioners seem to be able to spend our money for very important things like racetracks.
I feel that many of us are very unhappy with our City Council, which really pays out the money for “studies” which in most cases only benefit the few. The county did the study, and we have one-way streets that move traffic. The City Council blew some more money for another study and now wants to spend the money to change things back.
We have city managers that do not have the interest of the city at heart, or they would live in it.
Now we can make some positive changes with the election of some top people like Brenda Grassel, Tom Towey and Bob McCaslin to the City Council. Also there is another spot on the council to be filled with Steve Taylor leaving.
Let’s get a council that will do, not study.
