Looking ahead to SIFF Saturday
Here are some SIFF notes:
First, the movie “Spring Breakdown” that we walked out on at the opening weekend of the SIFF is out on DVD tomorrow. Check it out and you’ll understand why we were less than, uh, amused.
Second, here are some recommendations for SIFF screenings that will be held on Saturday:
11 a.m. Saturday at the Egyptian: “Il Divo,” director Paolo Sorrentino’s surreal look at the life and career for former Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti. Fans of the Spokane International Film Festival remember that this film showed at SpIFF in February.
1:30 p.m. Saturday at SIFF Cinema, “Le Amiche,” Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1955 film about several characters living in post-war Italy.
3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pacific Place, “Inland” is an Algerian film about a couple living in working in the dangerous remote part of western Algeria.
7 p.m. Saturday at the Admiral Theater, “Swimsuit Issue,” a Swedish film about an all-male synchronized swimming team.
9 p.m. Saturday at the outdoor venue, Juanita Beach Park,
“OSS: Cairo, Nest of Spies,”
French spoof on the spy film (Bond, Powers, Smart).
