Religion on offensive

The Spokesman-Review

Could someone please explain to me why the Christians among us are not content to freely practice their chosen religion, but must instead insist at every turn that their personal religious beliefs be made into the very law of the land?

Why does Gloria Sarber (Letters, June 6) think it’s all right to force me to accept her narrow Christian viewpoints? I don’t care about the biblical definition of marriage, because I am not a Christian. Why should I be bound by the laws of a faith I don’t subscribe to? Why should I be bound by the laws of any faith, since the last time I checked this country was still based on the separation of church and state, a concept that clearly escapes Ms. Sarber.

Sarber says, “Our government has no business legalizing immoral behavior.” She finds homosexual behavior “shameful, indecent and immoral.”

If there’s anything shameful, indecent and immoral going on it’s Christian zealots who mouth the words “love thy neighbor” but have no intention of doing so unless those same neighbors bow to the cross. Oh wait, that was the Crusades, and we’ve come such a long way since then.
