ASA NWLMT Points Leaders All Aimed Towards Idaho
A local driver with vast knowledge at Stateline could upset the current ASA Northwest Late Model Tour points chase. Kevin Richards (Newman Lake, WA) has so many wins at his home track they have lost count.

Marysville, WA (June 12, 2009)– Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho is ready to receive the best super late model stock car teams in the northwest when the iRacing.com American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour rolls in on Saturday June 13 for the iRacing.com 125. The top four in points for the first ever tour championship reads as a who’s who of premier stock car racing. Some have vast experience on the Inland Empire’s fastest ¼-mile oval while others will be seeing it for the first time.
The
current point leader Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee, WA) has limited experience on
the super fast surface. Holding the slimmest of margins for the championship
Harris has had a very consistent season albeit without a win. Harris started
his career at a track that is similar as the high banked Stateline Speedway.
Winning a championship at WVSO in E. Wenatchee, WA may help Harris over the
hump and onto that first win.
On
the other hand second in points a mere six points out of the lead Gary Lewis
(Snohomish, WA) has had success in Idaho. In three previous trips to Post
Falls, ID Lewis has two wins and a runner-up. Both of the wins were back to
back at the prestigious Idaho 200 in 2007 & 2008.
Third
in the points chase Kelly Mann (Monroe, WA) has very little experience at this
track. Although a championship at South Sound Speedway may aid is his quest to
get his first win of the season. Mann’s driving style is suited for
Stateline. Sixteen points is all that is keeping Mann out of the points lead at
mid season.
The
driver with least experience on this type of track is also the hottest driver
on the traveling super late model circuit. Mike Longton (Moxee, WA) has won
back to back features at the series’ last two stops. Longton overcoming a
bad first two races has propelled into the fourth position eighteen points in
arrears.
A
local driver with vast knowledge at Stateline could upset the current points
chase. Kevin Richards (Newman Lake, WA) has so many wins at his home track they
have lost count.
Other
top ten drivers registered are Brad Stanwood (Portland, OR), Joey Tanner
(Portland, OR), Jared Vorse (Olympia, WA), Alan Cress (Albany, OR) and Jay
Sauls (Puyallup, WA).
The new ASA NWLMT is a combined effort of the two former series the Late Model Challenge Series and the Northwest Tour. The two merged in the off season bringing together the best racers and fans. The June 13 stop at Stateline Stadium Speedway in Post Falls, ID will be the series’ only stop in Idaho in 2009.
