Quotes of the Week

I’m leaving it open this week. I’m going for song lyrics, but feel free to add any you like. I’ll put 2 or 3 in under 1 theme

Theme 1:

Finding Yourself

Song 1:

Amazing Grace by John Newton

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

Song 2:

Chasing Pavements by Adele

Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere,
Or would it be a waste?
Even If i knew my place should i leave it there?
Should i give up,
Or should i just keep chasing pavements?
Even if it leads nowhere

What are your favorite songs to listen to? Any that really strike you as fitting this theme?

Theme 2:

Grammys with Meaning

Song 1:

American Boy by Estelle and Kanye West (Rap/Sung Collaboration winner)

Take me on a trip, I’d like to go some day.
Take me to New York, I’d love to see LA.
I really want to, come pick it with you.
You’ll be my American Boy.

I am taking liberties with the meaning of this song. But do you think it’s a problem for potential immigrants to have American Boys (or girls) so they can enter the country?

Song 2:

Viva La Vida by Coldplay

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own

What is the symbolism in this song? (Nah, just kidding. I hate symbolism with a passion.) How about: What meaning do you see in this song or stanza that relates to the United States today?
