Police bond doesn’t fit reality

The Spokesman-Review

I think $18 million for a new police evidence facility and upgrade to the weapons training facility is way out of line.

Why doesn’t the City Council/police consider buying the old Costco warehouse on the East 900 block of Third Avenue? There would be more than enough room for both evidence and firearms practice, with room left over for police vehicle maintenance, storage and whatever else they could think of. I am sure that the property would cost much less than $18 million and could be refurbished for a fraction of that.

I don’t think we need a champagne solution when we are on a beer budget.
