Learning thrives on levy

The Spokesman-Review

I guess I’m an “old-timer.”

Coeur d’Alene has trusted me with her children and her children’s children since 1974. The teaching going on now is the best I’ve seen over all those years. It is due, to a great extent, to the long history of support voters have given our district to provide for our kids.

On April 21 we are asking for a replacement supplemental levy to provide for remediation programs, advanced learning programs, co-curricular programs like music and athletics, and base support for the education of our kids.

This levy will be $1 million less than the previous levy, so taxes should actually dip slightly. It represents about 14 percent of our budget, so its passage is crucial.

For our democracy to flourish, we must have well-educated, well-balanced and well-behaved children who will be able to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. If you want to continue the great “Legacy of Learning” that we’ve had here for so many years, please vote yes on April 21.
