Huckleberries gives a big Hat Tip to Police Chief Wayne Longo and police spokeswoman Christie Wood for their superb work in providing ongoing information about the tragic murder of a college student in downtown Coeur d’Alene Saturday morning. At a time when many law agencies withhold information, CPD Blue provided news re: important breaks in the case, including an account of the murder and a good description of the murder suspect and the car he was in. Then, there was an update that the suspect had been captured, followed by the release of his name and photo (which I’ve posted below), and finally the name of the victim. This, while CPD Blue performed swiftly and well in capturing the suspect. Yeah, there was one glitch — misidentification of the suspect’s place of work. But it was quickly corrected. As I write this at 12:20 a.m., the daily papers are about to reach your door steps with a report of the story you’ve known for 12 to 16 hours. Welcome to the brave new cyber world of journalism.
