Unsustainable action

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane City Council voted on Monday to move forward with its scam, the inappropriately named Sustainability Action Plan, after community members presented testimony despite being bullied by Council President Joe Shogan.

Unfortunately, the short-term effects of this directive will directly increase the amount of pollution in the city of Spokane, from the mass exodus of businesses and citizens who are forced out of the city because they will be unable to afford the significant increases in the budget.

The long-term effect, though, will be realized, as the surrounding communities grow vibrantly, and the city of Spokane becomes less populated by businesses, employees and citizens. The reduced tax base for the city of Spokane will only increase its demand for revenue, thus ensuring more taxes, and more exodus, in the future as well, until Spokane is nothing more than a shell of a city. Ironically the vote came after the same City Council grinned and smiled while claiming to support small businesses and presented an award to that effect.

I hope people will come to grips with reality before it’s too late, but they are already too ill-informed to hang much on that hope.
