YWCA leader shunned

The Spokesman-Review

When the YWCA holds its annual meeting at 5 p.m. on May 26, one glaring absence will be their most diligent advocate and past director, Monica Walters.

Ms. Walters has been a great leader in our community and specifically of the YWCA for the past 13 years. For an agency that espouses to “eliminating racism: empowering women,” Ms. Walters’ termination was a shock indeed, and in deed. Ms. Walters worked tirelessly to bring the new facility to fruition, and it seems a terrible injustice that she was unable to share in the joy of this new addition to Spokane.

We as a community owe a big thank you to Monica Walters. She deserves our gratitude and appreciation.
