Successes impressive

The Spokesman-Review

City Council candidate Jon Snyder has an impressive record in Spokane. He helped found community radio station KYRS, he has been a regional bicycle/pedestrian advocate and he started the award-winning publication Out There Monthly magazine in an industry where 90 percent of start-ups fail their first year. But what is not well publicized is Snyder’s background prior to returning to Spokane.

Recruited by Fantastic Media to work for the official Lucasfilm magazine in the mid-1990s, Snyder quickly rose to vice president, helping grow the business from $5 million annually to over $20 million in just four years. To accuse Snyder of inexperience or lack of business or budget savvy is simply inaccurate.

I have had the privilege of working with talented colleagues here in Spokane and elsewhere, and Snyder has one of the keenest minds I have worked with. He understands the economic and environmental problems we face, and he takes the time to listen to his constituents – as evidenced by the diversity of his endorsements.

Snyder is the homegrown talent whom we lament for when they leave. Let’s elect Jon Snyder to City Council and move away from staid, noncommittal politics toward innovation, commitment and true leadership.
