A pregame look a OSU game

COUGARS

What if they held a football game and nobody came? Would it still make a sound? We’ll examine that proposition on the link. Read on.

• When I drive over from my palatial digs to Martin Stadium on a Saturday, I usually see hundreds, nee thousands – OK that’s an exaggeration – of students and others walking to the game. Today I counted, wait for it, one. One student walking from apartment hill – as I call it – to the football game. Wow. … But it gets worse. Two-and-one-half hours before game time, I walked by the student entrance. I counted nine students in line. Usually when I walk by 3 hours before the game, the line is back to at least Bohler and sometimes past. Nine today. And the weather, while cold, is still pretty pleasant. … OK, now back to the game on the field. … Someone asked me how many times Oregon State would have to turn the ball over for WSU to have a shot today. So I remembered back to last year when WSU lost 66-13. You may not realize this, but the Cougars had four interceptions in that game. Four. And still lost by 53. Extrapolate that out and they need somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen. OK, I know not all turnovers are the same, but I’m just saying. … That’s about all today. If I see anything crucial – what could be crucial, really – I’ll pass it on.

• That’s it. We’ll be back. Until then …
