Seniors, get busy

The Spokesman-Review

Hold on to your hats, seniors, because that is all you will have left after the government gets through with us on the Social Security and Medicare cuts.

There will be no raise (average 3 percent) this year or next on Social Security, but you can bet that Medicare and your supplemental will not hold still at the price they are now. My suggestion is for the president to take that 6 percent (3 percent this year and 3 percent next year) out of his salary and those of the House and Senate and leave the seniors alone.

The president wants to cut $5 billion out of Medicare, yet if you come into this country from another you get a housing allowance each month plus free medical and dental.

Please tell me what is wrong with this picture.

Please write to the president at whitehouse.gov and voice your opinions. Who knows, it just might work.
