The Spokesman-Review

I don’t know your criteria for publishing letters, but I suggest that you use originality of ideas as one. I am really tired of reading (and hearing) the same old regurgitated Fox News or MSNBC mantras – the same old Glenn Beckisms and Rachel Maddowisms.

The late famous nutritional guru Adele Davis used to say, “We are what we eat.” Unless we expose ourselves to more neutral and cerebral news sources, we believe and say (ad nauseam) the malarkey we hear. PBS is the cleanest source of news and analysis, followed by CNN and the BBC.

Of course Fox lumps together all non-Fox media as liberal trash to hold captive its audience. Throw in a little Jon Stewart. Comedic commentary is at least candid, entertaining and equally disrespectful of the lunacy that passes for fact in the news/entertainment media and public pronouncements from our so-called leaders.

If I have to hear one more boorish explanation that the government fails at all it undertakes, or that the neocons single-handedly turned over the reins of government to Wall Street, I think I’ll resort to just reading old comic books, good fiction and talking to my dogs. We are becoming a society of incivility.
