Terrorism fight worth it

The Spokesman-Review

Mr. Philip Waring’s (Nov. 18) letter to the editor regarding the anti-terrorism toll being too high put a price on protecting this country and its freedoms. Since when can a price tag be placed on America’s safety and well-being?

In how many countries will we need to fight terrorists? As many as we need to! Mr. Waring addresses this concern as if it is a serious problem. Since 9/11, America has not had a major terrorist attack on its soil. Our men and women in uniform are protecting us every day from a potential terrorist attack. This strategy is clearly successful.

Also, the reasons for this war are not about dealing with ego stroking or image. The leaders of this country are ultimately concerned with protecting citizens and an opportunity for a safe, promising future. This is not about being weak. Yes, we have lost many brave lives fighting terrorism. However, is giving up on the fight against terrorism the best solution? Soldiers fighting for our freedom have a vision for America’s future.

Sadly, unlike our heroic soldiers, too many people take for granted the freedoms and protection our country delivers daily.
