Give control to the people

The Spokesman-Review

In response to Will Parks’ letter (Sept. 25), Proposition 4, the Community Bill of Rights, is not a threat to the people of Spokane but to corporations, developers and the city government who prefer the status quo because it has served them well in the past.

Envision Spokane will not be “taking control of our city.” The people of Spokane will be taking control of their city. Envision is not an outside group; the Community Bill of Rights was drafted by Spokane neighborhood councils, nonprofits and labor union representatives with citizen input at public meetings. If our city government follows the comprehensive plan, there will not be a morass of lawsuits. Go to Envisionspokane.org, watch the video and read the FAQs on the Community Bill of Rights.

Representatives of the business establishment in Spokane are sending out fear-mongering letters to raise money to defeat Prop. 4. All City Council members have voiced opposition to Prop. 4 and the council approved advisory questions for the ballot to skew the vote to defeat Prop. 4. Doesn’t looking at the opponents of Prop. 4 tell you to support it? It does me.
