Members of Congress should take Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ lead: Whether it’s health care, immigration or environmental issues, Congress continues to approach complex issues with an all or nothing approach. Complex issues require unique and individual solutions; otherwise, the real intent in Congress is pushing a social agenda.
For example, do we need another government-run health care program? No. We need specific solutions that address health care litigation; purchasing health insurance across state lines; medical discounts or tax rebates for low-income residents; fraud and abuse of government-run veterans care, Medicare and Medicaid; and affordable services for green card workers. Each issue is unique and requires different solutions. Thank Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers for pushing to address these complex issues individually.
Take notice, our country and state are in trouble. Congress continues to ignore public opinion, pushes to pass massive bills with only hours for members to read, voted to eliminate the 72-hour public review, and cares not for the financial burden it places on the state. Our elected officials must slow down and resist the urge to solve all problems with broad-brush national solutions – or we elect new members like our congresswoman who will.
