Better Valley is the goal

The Spokesman-Review

I have been seeing in articles and hearing that the candidates opposing some of the current Spokane Valley City Council members are in favor of disincorporating the city of Spokane Valley. This is not true.

Three separate groups of concerned citizens were unhappy with the current direction of the city and elected to take different paths to correct the problem.

They were Friends of the Valley, Disincorporate Now and the Positive Change Committee.

Upon failure of the disincorporation efforts, the members of the other two groups elected to join with the Positive Change Committee, whose goal from the start was to elect people who truly care and have a vested interest in the Valley. Their desire was to work with the county, reduce taxes, restore public confidence and use fiscal responsibility. Those candidates are Dean Grafos, Brenda Grassel, Sen. Bob McCaslin, Gary Schimmels and Tom Towey.

All of the above people, in all of the groups, should be commended for their participation in the public process and for trying to improve the Valley for all the residents.
