New leadership impresses

The Spokesman-Review

As I get older I notice my comfort zone for change has narrowed considerably. This happens to us older guys, and it isn’t pretty. Sure seems easy to choke these days.

We are repeatedly told that today change has never been faster, so intimidating and ever more important to understand. I keep trying to breathe deeply.

So I am extremely impressed by the younger leadership of Spokane, men and women who are stepping up and taking on the complicated issues we face. Because of the unique openness of Spokane’s civic processes, our smart and capable emerging leaders quickly acquire a wealth of experience, maybe because they are running faster and can keep up with change, or maybe just because they are smarter than ever.

That is why I support Jon Snyder for City Council. He is one of those new leaders in America, able to grasp the importance of the challenges coming at us and generate informed, mature discussions and decisions with all kinds of people. His successful business experience adds pragmatic credibility to his considerable local involvement in our significant community events.

Please vote for Jon Snyder for your City Council.
