Sam: Just The Facts, Ma’am

Sam: I’ve seen some video of Councilman Mike Kennedy repeatedly question Larry Spencer about credentials while making public comment. Do you believe that an average citizen has to be an expert in order to have their say? Who is an expert is anything? Shouldn’t a resident/voter/taxpayer be able to have their say even if they have a basic education? What have the council members done that has enhanced the community in a way that is both cost effective and forward-thinking? What are your arguments against the challengers? Why would they be bad for the council? Less scare statements and simple facts, please. Full comment below .

Question: Do the local candidates do enough re: discussing their accomplishments and future goals? Or do they spend too much time tearing their opponents down?

Why don’t we talk facts. To those who oppose the incumbent City Council members and the mayor … what have they done that voters should know as reasons they should no longer be on the council or in city’s top executive spot. Provide specifics.

Are you really mad that they were able to negotiate with city employees the freezing of wages for 2010, something that was already negotiated and approved via contract?

Are you mad about the Kroc Center, a place in the community that more than three times the amount of people that were expected to sign up for have now participated? A community center that the city barely spent money on?

Are you mad about the urban renewal that is constantly providing not only more tourist attractions but also places for locals to visit (the theater complex, in particular, which has brought my parents to it I swear more than they ever went to films at the US 95 or Gov’t Way theaters when I was a kid).

What do the challengers offer? Do they have *actual* experiences that you can show lend credence to their bid?

What are things that voters should know?

To supporters of the incumbents, aside from what I’ve pointed out as potential positives (which I await some critique on from opponents), why do these council members deserve to stay in their positions?

Do you think they listen enough to citizens and actually respect them? Can you provide some examples?

Let’s talk facts (FACTS!!!!! lots of exclamation points there) about the candidates and their positions and stop going after other commenters. It’s so childish and tedious. It lends nothing to the discussion at all. Talk about the candidates. And not just opinions. Back it up with factually-based information, for the love of all that is holy
