Spokane voters are lucky

The Spokesman-Review

The question for voters choosing Spokane City Council members: Are we aware of how lucky we are to have the choice of such exceptional candidates as Amber Waldref in District 1 and Jon Snyder in District 2?

Amber Waldref has an impressive history of helping people. She worked with Heart of America to protect the public and the Columbia River from radioactive contamination, with a local nonprofit to preserve the natural world for present and future generations to enjoy and being a leader in her neighborhood council.

Jon Snyder is a successful small businessman who believes – unlike his opponent – that an important role of government is to protect local small businesses, and the views of neighborhoods, in land-use decisions. Fixing city streets, while making Spokane more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly is a high priority for him. Jon’s campaign reflects a commitment to public service.

Amber Waldref and Jon Snyder are very smart, energetic people who want a vibrant, thriving Spokane for Amber’s daughter, Jon’s son and daughter, and all the rest of us to grow up in. I’m betting we voters are smart enough to give them the chance.
