Welcome to Utopia

The Spokesman-Review

OK, what is going on here? Who’s responsible for this insane document called Prop 4? How did a wish list for a Utopian society become a demand for that wish list to become “rights”?

Affordable housing a “right”? Affordable “preventive” health care a “right”? I don’t think so, unless we all moved to Disneyland.

A Utopian desire may be OK if you don’t like the challenges of life and everyone else is sharing the same Utopia, but it isn’t what people normally consider a rewarding life.

There isn’t enough space here to really address all that’s wrong with this document. It just looks like a backdoor approach to the breakdown of city government to me, with the creation of uncountable and unaccountable “mini” governments that make up their own rules, and they can all do their own “thing.”

Shades of the ’60s!

But what I really want to ask is: Who in Spokane is going to pay for this? Are the creators and supporters so naive that they can’t see the out-of-sight financial costs of this? That’s a scary thought.

I hope the intelligent voters throw this in the trash where it belongs.
