Repairs will take time

The temporary increase in national deficits is due to the measures needed to repair the fiscal problems inherited by the Obama administration.

There is no viable alternative to temporarily high deficits. Due to the depth and complexity of the inherited fiscal problems, the Obama administration efforts will likely take at least several years to produce a healthy economy.
