DOTC Undergoes Bypass Surgery

Dan of the County: In the morning (more like middle of the night—5 something a.m.) I’ll be getting admitted for a little bariatric bypass surgery. They’re going to take out my gall bladder too and fix a little belly button hernia while he’s in there. Kind of like throwing in new wires and a distributor cap since you’re changing the plugs anyway. I’ve fought with excess weight for most of my adult life and have gained and lost and then gained more than I lost several times but the scoreboard keeps inching up. We won’t talk exact stats but let’s just say I want to get back closer to 150 something than 250 something. I’ve read and researched a great deal about this option but thought I’d never have a chance for it. Full post below .

DFO: Keep Dan of the County in your thoughts and prayers today and in the coming days — that he comes through surgery successfully and heals quickly.

I wondered if I would say anything but this thread seems like a custom made opportunity. In the morning (more like middle of the night—5 something a.m.) I’ll be getting admitted for a little bariatric bypass surgery.

Then we found out my wife’s new insurance will pay, and they close the window for doing it at 60 (just turned 58), and I’m really, really motivated at this particular time because Spencer promises me all Democrats will have tough competition from his candidates next year so I figure I need to get back to my old fighting (in my case, wresting) weight.

I’ve lost about 30 pounds over the last few months during the mandatory prep phase you go through with nutritional counseling, exercise, etc. For the last two weeks I’ve been on a liquids only diet so I’m really ready to say, “Cut me doc, so my stomach’s smaller.”

Anyway, I have my eyes open and know it will need to result in lifetime changes. That’s what I’m counting on. It would be easy to say, “hey, I just lost 30 lbs. and can just keep going with that” but I know I’d never get down to what I actually need to lose and then it would come back again. With the unexpected insurance coverage I see this as a real gift to take hold of.

I’ll see you on the other side and let you know how it went.
