Input needed on wake rules

The Spokesman-Review

The Bayview Community Council has 90-plus members, and it has come to our attention that the Parks and Waterways Advisory Board is considering reducing or modifying Bayview’s no-wake zone.

This decision would adversely affect a very large population in the following ways:

•Increase risk for accidents for children and adults who canoe, kayak, use paddleboats or swim.

•Damage due to increase in wave action to float homes, docks and soil erosion in this fragile mountain terrain.

•Amplified noise level from speed boats since the bay is situated in a rocky canyon which echoes.

The individuals mentioned above are the ones that will be affected most by this decision. Therefore, their opinions and desires should be paramount in making a decision on the no-wake zone here in Bayview.

A town meeting here in Bayview for all concerned citizens is a must so all interested parties can attend and voice their concerns.

Robert E. Hammell

Chairman, Bayview Community Council

Bayview, Idaho
