True victim in shootout

The Spokesman-Review

Meghann Cuniff’s article in Saturday’s paper titled, “Police return shots, kill man” incorrectly listed Todd White as the “victim” in the event that occurred on March 26. The true victims in that event were the citizens and police officers whose lives were placed in jeopardy by the violent criminal actions of Todd White. Thanks to an alert neighbor and the heroic actions of the police officers that responded to the scene White was prevented from physically harming anyone.

Ernie Wuthrich

Spokane police detective

Spokane Valley

(Editor’s note: The word “victim” appeared in a secondary headline that was written by an editor,

not reporter Meghann Cuniff.)
