Fair hike is fair

The Spokesman-Review

As a former member of the Spokane County Fair and Expo Board, I must comment on admission ticket increases for the annual fair. The citizen board works very hard to provide a quality fair and exposition for Spokane County. I know personally as I spent many hundreds of hours along with many volunteers to make the fair experience a quality event for all that attend.

If there is to be a small increase in ticket prices this year, consider it a bargain. For years the fair board kept the costs to the public down; the commissioners were very conscious of it being an opportunity to all citizens to enjoy this gem of the county. If there is a need for an increase, I have to ask what is new with minor increases after so many years of no increases. If you were to look over eight to 10 years and compare ticket prices, it is still the very best bargain for a family in Spokane County.

My advice is purchase a family package early and enjoy the fair.
