Bailout Helps Vaughn Ward’s Family
Front-running Republican Vaughn Ward has made cutting federal spending a hallmark of his
campaign for Congress. But one of the top recipients of federal bailout money puts food on the table in Ward’s household. His wife, Kirsten, 35, is a technology project manager for Washington, D.C.-based Fannie Mae. Ward, 41, has been campaigning since March 2009, while his wife supports him and their two children, Ave and William. “We’re set up financially where I don’t have to work for money,” Ward told the Idaho Statesman last year. “Instead, I can work on a campaign.” Fannie Mae was spared bankruptcy by federal bailouts. It has received $76 billion since being taken over by the Federal Housing Financing Agency in 2008. Taxpayers are on the hook for an additional $125 billion, according to Fannie Mae/
