Chadez a better pick
Nice letter, Tim McHenry (July 9). You’ve summarized Andy Billig’s solid resume. Substitute Louise Chadez’s background in most areas of the narrative, and you get essentially the same story line. The principal difference is that Billig is a longtime businessman and Chadez is a lifelong social worker.
Which professional foundation offers the most to the residents of the 3rd District at this time? Business is a great discipline, but Washington’s House of Representatives has no shortage of business-focused members. At least a third now identify as small-businessmen or women. Only three social workers hold seats in the House.
Why is this important? Most of our general fund dollars are dedicated by law to education and human services. These are more naturally the forte of social workers than business people. Social workers understand the problems that ordinary citizens struggle with. Social workers know how state programs function. And good ones like Louise Chadez know how to squeeze the most services out of your tax dollars.
Andy Billig is a good choice for the House. Louise Chadez is a better one. Please join me in voting for her in the upcoming primary.
