Not only is it the first day of football practice for Washington State – official start time: 2 p.m. – but it is also Sunday morning, which means there is a lot of stories to peruse. So hit the link and get right to it.

• We put the unedited version of our Sunday morning story on the blog last night, with a few more items than what made the paper. … But that isn’t the only WSU news available this morning. We were able to find Dale Grummert’s story from the Lewiston Tribune on the American Chronicle site, which is a nice treat in that Dale’s work is usually only available through the pay mode. … Freelancer Howie Stalwick has five questions as the Cougars open camp. … ESPN.com’s Ted Miller previews camp’s opening. … Over at Oklahoma State – the first opponent in less than a month – the Cowboys are in full swing. A young receiver is vying to be a big target. … All in all a pretty full WSU morning.

• Now on to the rest of the Pac-10 … The LA Times’ Chris Dufresne has some fun with this year’s burning questions. … Over in Seattle, the Huskies start practice tomorrow. And there are multiple reasons for optimism. … The biggest one? Jake Locker. … Down the way in Corvallis, the Beavers are loaded , maybe more loaded than any time in Mike Riley’s career. The schedule’s tough, though, and OSU is breaking in a new starting quarterback. … The Ducks are probably thrilled to be getting back on the field after this offseason. … They are, of course, the defending champions and they have a lot of firepower coming back. … Cal is looking for more firepower, and this five-star recruit should supply some. … I guess optimism is the word of the week. At least it is in Berkeley. … The Trojans are rebuilding their linebacking corps. They are doing it with a bunch of four- and five-star recruits, of course. … Dennis Erickson hopes to make a decision soon on who will be the Sun Devils starting quarterback. … ASU has few worries at linebacker . … And we end in Tucson, as usual, where the offense is the strongest side of the ball. That’s an unusual situation for coach Mike Stoops.
