Slick signage isn’t the point
Too bad about the proliferation of political signs, mailings and “robo-calls” now before us, urging us to vote for someone. I agree that candidates should become visible and get their message out; it’s a sad note that getting elected to office has become “he who plants the most flags wins.”
Looking at campaign spending of candidates running for office in Spokane’s 3rd Legislative District, my home, I see Andy Billig has raised roughly four times what Louise Chadez has. No surprise there – his slick mailings are four times the size of Louise’s modest, hand-signed ones. Andy is clearly the big fish in this elective pond.
But Spokane’s 3rd is a small pond – you can drive the “shoreline” in under an hour. ALL the pond’s denizens get noticed. Louise has the clearest, most sensible message: Elect a state representative totally familiar with, and experienced in, the diverse social programs funded by over three-quarters of our state’s general fund budget!
Louise gets her message out without littering roads, overstuffing mailboxes or assaulting message machines. And I can only conclude that when sent to Olympia, she’ll get that job done for a quarter of what her opponent would spend, also. Vote Louise.
