The 185-mile Spokane-to-Sandpoint relay is under fire as a result of the two crashes involving participants that claimed one life. But the photo of Keith Erickson’s daughters above show what the race is suppose to be — a fun outing involving friends and family. Here is Nicole Erickson, 20, right (who ran the “brightest costume” leg, hence the colorful attire), and little sis Brooke Erickson, 14, left. Brooke is handing Nicole water at Nine Mile Falls area on W. Rutter Parkway Friday morning. The rest of the nine-member team is behind. Organizers say the relay will continue in future years despite the tragic accidents this year.
