Deficit views inconsistent

It is no surprise that Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers voted no along with other House Republicans in opposition of a bill designed to keep teachers, police, firefighters and other local governmental workers from losing their jobs. The $26.1 billion aid bill also helps states maintain medical services to low-income Americans. The cost of this aid is fully paid for.

The rationale behind the Republican no vote is the federal deficit. Yet, the Republicans are more than willing to extend the Bush tax cut for the rich, resulting in an increase in the federal deficit by $3.8 trillion over 10 years. Seems stunningly hypocritical.
