Critter response flawed

My neighborhood has a sick and crippled raccoon roaming our yards, terrorizing our pets and eating up our gardens. I called Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service to notify them of the ill and withering animal.

“We don’t respond to wild animals. Call Fish and Game.”

The Department of Fish and Game said, “We don’t respond to those cases” and that I’m responsible for capturing and humanely euthanizing the animal.

I called the Sheriff’s Office to get their approval for my method to humanely euthanize this suffering animal. “You need to call back Monday after 8:30 a.m. and ask then.” I think I know what the answer will be.

As my neighbors and I continue to see our taxes increase, we see the level of service and safety “provided” by our government decrease.

As elected “representatives” reject the citizens’ demand for lower taxes, we get only empty promises, programs and bureaucracies that are nugatory and recreant. Worse yet, these same elected officials increasingly hinder us from taking care of our own neighborhoods and ourselves – and prevent us from giving compassion to a suffering raccoon. It’s time to elect people who will.

See you at the ballot box.
