Bond’s worth on display
I am writing in support of the Central Valley Construction Bond. As the principal at South Pines Elementary, I have a deep understanding of how a building renovation can impact a school and community.
Before our remodel, South Pines faced similar challenges to those of the schools that need to be renovated. Students eating breakfast and lunch in our gym created scheduling difficulties. The building layout impacted school safety with poor lines of sight at our entrance. We had an erratic heating system that had a direct impact on student comfort, and therefore student learning. Our electrical system limited the technology that we could use with our students. Our busing and student pick-up areas were congested and unsafe.
After our renovation, we have an excellent educational facility. We have a multipurpose room that is used for breakfast, lunch and other community activities. We have an HVAC system that keeps students comfortable in hot and cold temperatures. Our main entrance is safer with good lines of sight. Our buses are separated from parent vehicles. Our technology infrastructure allows for the use of the latest in technology.
All Central Valley students deserve to have a modern learning facility like South Pines Elementary.
