Over the (unfrozen) river

I could not agree more with Roy Tiefisher’s letter in the Nov. 29 Spokesman-Review regarding moving Thanksgiving to October. That is exactly what I have been thinking.

Our family goes back and forth to Seattle for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it is always a concern whether we will be able to get over and back safely. I think it is likely that there would be fewer accidents and deaths if it were changed. I think what we would need to do is to contact our Washington, D.C., politicians and persuade them to change the date for Thanksgiving.

I don’t think Christmas could ever be changed. The politicians have many things on their minds right now, but it would be better to work on it while it is fresh on people’s minds.
