An eclectic group of items from around the Pac-10. Nothing too important, but a lot of interesting reads. Today is basketball media day at WSU, plus Pac-10 coaches get on the phone with the media. Tomorrow is, of course, football’s Christmas Day, or as it is officially known, letter-of-intent day. Read on.

• Washington State: We had our short story (first item) about Mike Kramer’s hire at WSU. Not as big a deal, it seems to me, as some are making it out to be. And, in the long run, Kramer will probably help the rest of the staff do their job better. … Jim Moore has some thoughts on the Cougars and the Huskies. … And, if you have some time, it might be worth listening to Mychal Thompson talk about Klay in this podcast (check descriptions for the right hour) from Kevin Calabro’s Seattle-based radio show.

• Around the Pac-10: Dennis Erickson calls commitments akin to engagements: They’re public but it doesn’t mean both sides are going to walk down the aisle. As we get closer to signing day, more kids changed schools – some a few times. This column seems to nail the process pretty well. … Speaking of recruiting, South Carolina got a commitment from a junior college defensive lineman that was on WSU’s radar (near the end of the story). … Finally, some reflections about Pac-10 basketball at the halfway point.
