Students got raw deal
I was saddened after reading “Students show their solidarity” (Feb. 5). I went to college a long time ago for six years. It was the toughest six years of my life, and today I’m glad I spent those six years that way. I was lucky. My costs didn’t change that much while in college. There was a recession going on.
When Gov. Chris Gregoire was running for the second term, I was writing letters to editors telling everyone not to vote for her. I didn’t like her first four years and thought it was risky to give her a second term. She only knew how to spend and never knew how to manage a big state government like Washington.
She didn’t have her priorities right then and certainly doesn’t now. She owed too many chits but apparently didn’t believe she owed any college students any, even if they worked on her campaign.
You, the young people of Washington, need to let Gov. Gregoire know you are unhappy with her and her fellow Democrats and will fix your problem at the next election. If the governor and her fellow Democrats are halfway smart, they will go back and fix this thing.
