Brown should join Marr

The Spokesman-Review

Last week in Olympia, House and Senate committees worked on similar bills that will protect quality care in hospitals and nursing homes from cuts and assure that jobs are secured in skilled care settings throughout the state. For nursing homes in particular, the need is critical. Here in Spokane, the situation is dire: 17 facilities serving hundreds of seniors and vulnerable adults stand to lose $3.5 million unless action is taken.

We urge Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown to take action on the quality care fee proposal, joining local leaders like Sen. Chris Marr who understand this urgent need.

The nursing home proposal is nothing new: 37 other states have similar programs that work. It’s time to act.
