Cleanup chores continue

The Spokesman-Review

Republicans touting a balanced budget amendment? There they go again.

Anyone who’s read any history of the past century would know. Republican economic brain trusts are great at creating economic crises. Democrats get the job of cleaning up their messes. It’s always been this way.

What’s amazing is the rapid-onset amnesia of the Republican base, and the absence of any historical perspective from so many self-proclaimed independents and libertarians.

Republicans spend us into crisis. Democrats bail us out. And so it goes.
