Women’s basketball notes
A ton of basketball notes, expected coming back from furlough, but you’ll have to wait for some, although there is plenty below.
I’ll link to the basketball notebook tomorrow, time is running out but I want to draw your attention to ESPN’s latest bracketology, which isn’t so good since Eastern Washington and Gonzaga would both be sent to Stanford with the Eagles playing the Cardinal in the first round and the Zags meeting them in the second if they get by Maryland. Charlie Creme talks about the hurdles mid-majors face but doesn’t address the situation if the Zags stumble in the WCC Tournament.
A couple of milestones while I was away, Gonzaga’s Courtney Vandersloot becoming the WCC’s all-time assist leader and U-Hi grad Angie Bjorklund surprising 1,000 at Tennessee - in a game she won with a 3-pointer with 1 second left. Both earned their league’s Player of the Week honor.
A good weekend on tap with Gonzaga having it’s Think Pink game Thursday at 8 and Senior Day Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Eastern Washington can clinch a playoff spot for the first time in four seasons Friday night and plays host to Northern Arizona (including junior Jenna Galloway, Ferris) on Saturday.
Gonzaga moved up one spot in each poll . Here’s my vote:
